Terms of use
Syllabro is an invite-only study aid at syllabro.com. By checking the box on the invite form and entering a code, you agree to these terms and acknowledge the Privacy Notice. Document version 2026-10-13.
This document describes how Syllabro actually works today. It is an alpha tester agreement, not legal advice, not a completed DPIA, and not a contract with the University of Gothenburg or Instructure.
This deployment does not create a server-side user account or server-side chat history. Access is an invite cookie in this browser.
1. Who we are
Syllabro operates https://www.syllabro.com. We provide a private, invite-only alpha tutor. We are not the University of Gothenburg, not Canvas, and not Instructure. Syllabro is not a GU system. We do not write to Ladok, Canvas gradebooks, or other official records.
Contact: hello@syllabro.com.
2. Eligibility and invites
You must be 18 or older. The service is for invited testers only.
This deployment is invite-cookie only. A valid code sets a session cookie in this browser. We do not create a server-side user account.
Invite codes are a shared lock on the door, not a public listing. Do not post a code in a public place. You may share a code with people you trust. We may add, rotate, or revoke codes at any time, including if a code leaks.
Checking the box agrees to these Terms and acknowledges that you have read the Privacy Notice. That tick is not GDPR consent for processing. We store the Terms version (2026-10-13) and Privacy version (2026-10-13) with the session cookie. If those versions no longer match, you will need to accept the current documents again.
3. The service
Syllabro is a course-aware tutor. If you install the Syllabro Connector and stay logged into Canvas in the same browser profile, the connector can use your Canvas session on your device, parse course files there, and extract a small concept frame.
Course files, page HTML, and Canvas cookies or tokens are not uploaded to syllabro.com. When you chat, the tutoring model receives what you type plus a restricted frame: concept names, relations between them, and optional short item titles (for example a module or seminar name). At most eight frames go with a turn. When the separately controlled Learn trial is enabled, a disclosed review flow can also send privacy-filtered text from up to four selected documents, within a combined 128 KiB text budget. Attached material is request-local; generated replies can contain source-derived information and be saved. Use only synthetic or permission-cleared material in the trial. Review preferences do not grant rights to share other people’s material.
The in-app label identifies this as an AI tutor. Replies can be wrong, incomplete, or outdated. They are not academic advice, not official feedback from your course, and not a grade.
4. Your responsibilities
- Use only your own Canvas login. Do not use someone else’s session or credentials.
- Follow the University of Gothenburg’s academic and copyright rules, and Canvas / Instructure acceptable use, for how you use course materials.
- Treat Syllabro as a study aid. Do not use it to cheat on exams or assessments. Do not submit generated text as your own work if your course forbids that.
- Do not paste other people’s personal data, health or diagnosis information, Swedish personnummer, student IDs, confidential exam content, or anything you are not allowed to share into chat.
- Do not try to send course file bytes, Canvas tokens, or source text to our servers.
5. AI and academic integrity
Syllabro is identified in the product as an AI tutor (EU AI Act Article 50). Your course decides what AI help is allowed. Using a tutor may be permitted for studying and forbidden during an exam. Do not pass off generated text as your own. In-app “grade my answer” is formative only. It is not an official evaluation, admission, or grading decision.
6. Intellectual property
Course materials stay with their respective rightsholders. Connector processing does not transfer ownership to us. We do not host your PDFs.
The Syllabro name, site, and software are ours (plus third-party open-source components). To the extent we have rights in tutor output, you may use that output lawfully for your own studying, subject to third-party rights and your course’s academic rules. Output may not be unique.
7. Acceptable use
- Do not scrape Canvas through Syllabro or use the connector to exfiltrate course files to other services.
- Do not attempt to read another tester’s chats.
- Do not overload the tutor or bypass invite or rate limits.
- Do not reverse engineer the service to evade privacy filters or send extra data to the model.
8. Alpha, availability, and changes
This is experimental alpha software. We do not promise availability, accuracy, or that a feature will remain. We may suspend or end the service, including for a single invite code. We do not charge for alpha features.
We may change these terms for legitimate reasons: security, abuse, law, compatibility, or changes by subprocessors. Where practicable we will give reasonable notice of material changes. You may stop using the service and ask us to delete stored account data we hold. A material Terms update may require re-acceptance (the session’s stored Terms version will no longer match).
9. Warranty and liability
The service is experimental alpha, provided as available. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits mandatory rights you have under Swedish or EU law.
You remain responsible for what you submit to your course. Tutor output is not an official grade or university statement. We are not liable for exam results, grades, missed deadlines, or academic decisions. We are not liable for Canvas being unavailable, extension store review, or third-party models being wrong.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury.
10. Stopping
You can stop at any time: leave the site, clear this site’s cookies and storage, and uninstall the Syllabro Connector. Ask us if you want confirmation of what we do not store. We can also revoke invite codes.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden. That choice does not strip mandatory consumer protections that apply to you. Disputes may be brought in the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law.
12. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy notice.
